2024 Tournaments

GENERAL TOURNAMENT NOTES

OVERVIEW: Coach Hayes & 1 girls’ parent chaperone, we stay in team-arranged hotel rooms (4 to a room) and carpool (in the same cars as much as possible so we don’t inadvertently lose someone) to and from the tournament area, specific games and meals out.

FAMILIES: We love spectators! If families wish to attend, stay in the same hotel and/or dine with us, they are most certainly welcome. Families are responsible for all their own arrangements. Players can stay and drive with families as they wish, but please let us know ASAP and be very clear when you will and will not be joining the team. (Portable stadium seats are great for most pools; blankets are great for outdoor pools in the fall. Wear SEHS or SEWP gear to show your support!)

TRANSPORTATION: We usually meet at the school and carpool. This is arranged via Google spreadsheets (link distributed on the Team App) where players RSVP and indicate transportation plans and parents indicate whether they can drive.

FOOD: Players should bring snacks and maybe something to jumpstart their mornings (e.g., smoothie, yogurt, fruit). Sometimes the hotel offers breakfast. If not, we build in time for a bagel shop stop (and often Starbucks). Lunches are a mix of things (including grocery store stops, fast food, sandwich shops). Other meals are at restaurants we somehow choose as a group (and yes, we get in ruts and the loudest voices often win). Please be prepared to be flexible, but make major eating restrictions known to coaches or chaperones.

MONEY: Ideally players have a Venmo account they can use to pay back adults or other players who cover large-group bills. (Set this up a few days BEFORE the first trip as there is some account verification involved.) If Venmo isn’t an option, please bring lots of small bills for flexibility. A credit card is awesome for breakfasts, lunches and rare occasions when players cover a group’s bill at dinner. (REMEMBER – Main course + appetizer + drinks + 18-20% tip….please don’t short the servers or your teammates!) If possible, we encourage players to give a bit of gas money to their driver, but this is not necessary. Please pay hotel fees via Venmo or checks (ideally before, but also ok during or immediately after the event).

BRING: Bring what makes you feel comfy and gets you through the weekend (and night with three other teammates!), including your suits and caps, a few towels, shoes/clothes for eating out and hanging out, phone charger, meds/toiletries, money, water bottle, and - if things get messy again - a Covid mask or two (could double as a sleep mask in an emergency!)

QUESTIONS? Pose them in the Team App! Someone will help.

Ready for a long ride!

Redmond 8/23-25/2024

Our first set of games is in Redmond 8/23-25 and is a camp out at Redmond High School. It’s relaxed and friendly and super fun! Games are short and informal (e.g., share players to help the too-small teams out!).

Please see Team App for how to RSVP, schedule and other details. If you can help drive, definitely make that known. Speak up if you need a ride. Please bring or Venmo or $25 per person for simple meals organized by a few parents (help always appreciated!)

Keep eye on the Team app for schedule links.
